owaBunga Go-Go!, Hungary's favourite garage/surf band, was formed in May 2007 by three members of a punk band called GAP with Krsa, the singer of popular ska-band PASO, joining on drums. The band's first gig took place in October 2007 and having toured the Budapest club-scene, in early 2008, they were invited to support cult Russian surf rock icons, the Messer Chups at the Gödör Klub. The surf outfit, whose line-up features a beautiful Hula girl on bass guitar, recorded their first 3-track demo in 2009, with the songs also having been made available on their MySpace site. Later that year, they headed down to Livorno, Italy, to play "Surfer Joe", which is known as one of the most prestigious European surf festivals; their set went down a storm. Around that time, Krsa handed over his drumsticks to Schleki, who is a well-known face on the Hungarian punk/surf scene and who has stuck in the band ever since. The band's live shows are wild and addictive and often feature a VJ-set as well as an otherworldy theremin in the space-surf tracks. The CowaBunga Go-Go! set includes, besides their own tracks, covers from bands such as the Bambi Molesters, Fifty Foot Combo, Man Or Astroman? and the like.
