Graham, Richard and Martin formed Sanna in London in 2004. Through playing significant gigs such as at the Rough Trade Rota Club at Notting Hill Arts Centre they came to the attention of Fire Records and in 2005 recorded the ‘Remote EP’. They did a live session on London radio station Resonance FM in 2006 and in the same year played the Way Beyond Nashville Festival in London plus other selected venues. In 2006 they played the Bongo Club, Edinburgh, which led to a decision to move the band back to Scotland to concentrate on music and build a studio. In 2007 Sanna moved to Edinburgh and expanded the line up with additional members Allan and Colin, both DJs at long-running Edinburgh club night, Headspin. Sanna spent some time setting up a studio, developing their sound and writing tracks. In 2007 they started their own live music and spoken word showcase night, Club Welto. Club Welto has been hugely successful and has given many new artists a platform to perform. Recently it has attracted artists from the Fence and Benbecula labels. Since December 2007 Sanna have been receiving plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio Scotland with the track ‘Elements’. They are currently writing and recording new material and playing live shows.
