Bronze Medallists are named after a Bad Plus song & an Idlewild lyric. They are happy to be on the podium rather than suffer the disappointment of silver or superiority of gold. The four-piece, based in East London formed two years ago, in the wake of both band and relationship ¬break ups, Bronze Medallists could be seen as a rebound band. But unlike most rebounds they’re going from strength to strength. “We’re free birds” says frontman Olly Price, and this philosophy of creative freedom is the driving force behind the band’s latest single, ‘Mathematics’. It’s a completely electronic sound and a departure for the members who’ve cut their teeth in numerous indie guitar and folk bands.
