Raw Materials was formed in 2007 as a part of the R Point organisation. The all boy band is from Novi Sad. They have performed in public on quite a few occasions and their lyrics are powerful and striking. R Point is a British non-profit organisation whose aim is to reduce the feelings of prejudice felt towards the Roma community, which leads to discrimination in the workplace and ostracism in education. R Point does this by giving Roma youth a voice through music, dance workshops and performances. They write their own lyrics and music and choreograph their own dance steps. Their lyrics are closely connected to everyday things that happen to them on the streets, going to and from school, and being Roma in Europe today. Raw Materials performed at Exit 2007 on the MTV stage, and has since performed at venues such as Underground in Novi Sad, and for the Council of Europe performed, with other R Point members from Nis, a rap re-mix of Beethoven’s 9th symphony in celebration of 25 years of the Council of Europe.
