There might be three in the band, but it's hard to tell until you see them. It's not everyday you see a stage light up with a percussionist laying down beats with more punch than a drum kit, or a guitarist that flings out corrupting riffs underneath brows of thunder and auburn steel. Magnetic and strutting, singer T-bird shakes out her technicolour plumage with abandon and wields her bass like she means business, coating this explosive and rope-tight sound bed with a voice that has a disarming mix of naivety and straight-talking West-London sass. Elova are a band of genuine fire, warmth and raw soul. Elova are part of the new breed of cross-cultural gatecrashers smashing their way onto the scene along with the likes of Tawiah, The Noisettes and Santogold. Their distinctive brand of indie-soul was born out of wanting to push the limits of how much noise a 3-piece can make and a desire to make music that makes people feel good. The result is a trio, larger than life, brimming with playful attitude and a repertoire that is as accessible as it is eclectic. Live performances and sell-out gigs at Edinburgh Festival and high-profile London venues Cargo, Jazz Cafe and the Pigalle Club have fast earned them a reputation as 'ones to watch'. Radio air-play as well as live session features on Sky's MusFlash have raised their profile across Europe and in the US. Last year they blazed a trail across the UK festival circuit as members of London's most up-and-coming underground music scene, the acclaimed One Taste Collective. Hot off the back of 2 successful self-released EPs, Elova just wrapped up their anticipated debut album with renowned producer KK (Bjork, Nelly Furtado, KT Tunstall, Collateral). This summer, they're back on tour with One Taste at the major UK festivals including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, The Big Chill and Electric Picnic.
