Pravi,prvi i jedini pioniri elektronske muzike ali prica o Kraftwerk-u nije samo prica o eletronskoj vec muzici uopste.Kraftwerk je jedan od najuticajnijih sastava 20-tog veka,zbog njih popularna muzika danas zvuci ovako.Kraftwerk je po svim statistikama najsemplovaniji band ikada,semplove iz njihovih pesama koristili su Depeche Mode,Afrika Bambaataa,The Prodigy,New Order,Madonna,Chemical Brothers,Coldplay,Fat Boy Slim,Ladytron,Jay-Z,Kosheen,LCD Soundsystem,Minus 8,Will Smith,Snap i mnogi drugi.

Njihov rad krece 1970. kada studenti muzicke akademije u Diseldorfu Ralf Hutter i Florian Schneider osnivaju bend "Organisation" i izdaju svoj prvi album "Tone Float".Ubrzo menjaju ime grupe u "Kraftwerk" i do 1973 izdaju tri albuma "Kraftwerk 1" (1971),"Kraftwerk 2" (1972) i "Ralf And Florian" (1973).Sledeci album izdaju 1974 i to revolucionarni "Autobahn" koji donisi do tada nepoznati elektronski zvuk na top liste u Americi,Velikoj Britaniji i Evropi.Njihov uspeh nastavnja se albumima "Radio-Activity" (1975),"Trans-Europe Express" (1977)."The Man Machine" (1978) album na kome su se nasle pesme "The Model","The Robots","Neon Lights","Space Lab" i "The Man-Machine" je album koji pokrenuo novu muzicku eru i uticao na bendove novog talasa 80-tih (npr.Depeche Mode)."Computer World" (1981) predvidja novu eru kompijutera a svoju ljubav prema biciklizmu pokazuju albumom "Tour de France" (1983).Tokom 80-tih izdaju jos jedan album "Electric Cafe"(1986).Pocetkom devedesetih izdaju besf of album "The Mix" (1991).1999 izdaju singl "Expo 2000" a 2003 jos jedan album posvecen biciklizmu "Tour de France Soundtracks".Poslednje izdanje je live album "Minimum-Maximum" (2005),snimljen na nastupu u Moskvi.

An avid cyclist, Hutter was involved in a cycling accident in 1983, during the initial period of recording of the since abandoned album Techno Pop.Only the single "Tour de France" and demos of "Techno Pop" and "Sex Object" would find their way into bootleg releases after this accident. He was in the hospital for many months, and Karl Bartos stated the first thing he said when he awoke from his coma was "Where is my bicycle?"
